No me despiertes al niño, he's got his dummy today
A nursery with a barred cot, a teddy bear on the shelf and stars on the wall. So far, all normal. Then you look at the protagonists: a man in a blue check suit and open shirt and, beside him, another, tattooed and bearded, wearing a lace bonnet, a bib, a nappy and a dummy. They're holding hands. The cover of «No me despiertes al niño» (Don't Wake the Baby) gets a laugh and a double reading at the same time.
The title is a phrase we've all heard at home, whispered and with an implicit threat. Taking it out of context and putting it over this image turns it into something else, much naughtier. The baby here sports a beard and tattoos.
I love that humour that plays with the familiar and makes it camp without losing the tenderness. The cot, the teddy and the stars on the wall are the perfect set for the joke.
Keep it quiet, just in case. The baby is a light sleeper.
