A few lines at a time
X
On X, Mike Sain't Louis posts as @MikesaintlouisX: lines that didn't make it into a song, a new release, a bit of queer memory. Here are his latest posts, exactly as he published them.
Longer than a post
Latest from the blog
When a thought doesn't fit in a few lines, it ends up here.
«Before the world decides»: intersex people, childhood surgery and the right to decide
«Before the world decides what's allowed», says «Before the bells». From that line I write about intersex people: what being intersex means, surgery in childhood, consent, Spain's Law 4/2023 and the associations that offer support.
«Shutting every door»: disability and LGBTI people, the double locked door
«Gatekeeping, shutting every door», repeats «Gatekeeping». From that chorus I write about LGBTI people with disabilities: the double locked door, overprotection, the inaccessible scene, the right to sexuality and what the laws say.
I have a friend who…: coming out as an adult and the confession in «Toxina coreana»
«Te lo voy a decir. La amiga soy yo», I'll tell you: the friend is me, confesses «Toxina coreana». From that line I write about coming out as an adult: the «I have a friend who…», family, children, work, the data and where to find support.
Film noir in a pink raincoat: «Dans la nuit», movie rain and the walk back home
«Dans la nuit» has no published lyrics and I'm not going to tell what happens that night. This post starts from its cover, me in a fuchsia raincoat in the rain between blue streetlights, and goes through film noir, the smell of wet earth, the history of the raincoat and what it means to walk home alone in the small hours.
The whispering gallery: «Whisper Fade», the holographic jacket and the art of ending without slamming the door
«Whisper Fade» has no published lyrics, so this post doesn't invent a single line. It starts from the cover, a portrait in a holographic jacket in front of a pink galaxy, and travels through the galleries where a whisper crosses a dome, holography, the fade-out that ends so many songs and goodbyes that make no noise.
«Por dentro te escupía»: prepositions of place in my lyrics
In «La empatía de la arpía» someone smiles on the outside while spitting at you on the inside. A look at the words of place in my lyrics: inside and outside, the between that traps you, below and on top, the behind of those who gossip, the in front of those who perform and the far away of someone who can finally breathe.
