Mi salvador: Spanglish, dance floor and Benidorm before dawn
Dale color (Give it colour). Give me light. Like that, mixing languages without asking permission, Mi salvador (My Saviour) moves along, a dance-floor song that jumps from Spanish to English in every line like someone switching dance partners.
The story is that of one night. Ever since night fell, the lyrics say, the two of them have been vibrating on the same frequency. Eyes that make you lose control, a close dance, waiting for a yes that will set everything alight. And in the background, an idea I really like: dancing until dawn as if it were forever.
Healing by dancing
What makes this song special, for me, is the title. The saviour isn't a person who rescues you from a fire or a movie hero. It's a rhythm. It's the way someone moves on the dance floor, able to kill the pain and heal the heart. «Mueve así, kill this dolor» (Move like that, kill this pain). There are few lines that better sum up what a good night of dancing can do for you.
And the night has a direction: Benidorm, where dreams live, according to the song. The stars shine only for them and nobody can match this movie of theirs. I love that Benidorm appears here with all its neon epic, as the setting for a nightclub romance.
The chorus is very easy to chant along to: give it colour, bring flavour, dance right here, burn the fear. And there's a bridge that sounds almost like a film clapperboard, lights, camera, action, with a song repeating on a loop like a love you don't want to end.
In the end, the dance floor belongs entirely to someone: «reina on the dance floor» (queen on the dance floor). And the night is theirs alone.
Don't look here for the rascally humour of other lyrics in the project. Mi salvador is brighter, more about letting go. It's the danceable face of PLANETA GAYFOLK, the one that isn't settling scores with anyone and just wants to move.
Put it on while you get ready to go out, in the car on the way to the coast or at three in the morning when the last song plays. And if someone saves you that night, let it be on the dance floor.

Lyrics · MI SALVADOR
Desde que cayó la noche, baby,Tú y yo vibramos on the same frequency,Your eyes got me losing control,Dancing close, I feel your soul.
Espero el sí que me va a encender,This rhythm got me begging for more,Aquí en la pista, let’s live forever,Bailando close hasta el amanecer.
Give me light, dale color,Light up this love, amor,Mueve así, kill this dolor,With your moves, cure mi corazón.
Give me light, trae sabor,Tonight I'm your hunter, amor,Baila aquí, burn el temor,Your rhythm, mi salvador.
Girl, your curves make it hard to breathe,Each step you take, quiero seguir,La fiesta never ends with you aquí,En Benidorm, where dreams live.
Y las estrellas shine just for us,No one can match this movie of ours,In your game, I always want to be,Dancing 'til we forget it all.
Give me light, dale color,Light up this love, amor,Mueve así, kill this dolor,With your moves, cure mi corazón.
Give me light, trae sabor,Tonight I'm your hunter, amor,Baila aquí, burn el temor,Your rhythm, mi salvador.
Lights, camera, acción,Tonight you steal all my attention,Our song, a repeating connection,On loop, feeling our affection.
Give me light, dale color,Light up this love, amor,Mueve así, kill this dolor,With your moves, cure mi corazón.
Give me light, trae sabor,Tonight I'm your hunter, amor,Baila aquí, burn el temor,Your rhythm, mi salvador.
Give, give, give, all of you,Reina on the dance floor, it’s true,Baila, baila, hasta el fin,Tonight, the night is just for you.
