Weed, Weed, Weed: a truce for the noise in your head
Frogs in suits and sunglasses, clouds of pink smoke, a flying saucer with a frog on board and, in the centre, a guy in a green frog bathrobe wearing a crown. If you only look at the cover of «Weed, Weed, Weed», you'll think it's a stoner song full of giggles. It has a bit of that, but underneath it's about something else.
For me it's about those days that weigh too much. Days of noise in your head and anxiety, when the world asks you to smile and inside you can't take any more. The song looks for a breather: a moment of calm in the middle of that noise, even if others don't understand how you manage it or with what.
No posing and no flag-waving. What it does is let drop, in the background and without sermons, that maybe it's time to look with less fear and more empathy at certain things that help many people cope with pain. Everyone knows their own situation; the song doesn't tell you what to do, it only says that the need to stop is real.
I like that the title is a repetition, almost a mantra. The same word three times, like taking three deep breaths before getting back to work. That insistence is part joke and part homemade meditation.
The psychedelic look has its logic too. When your head won't stop, sometimes the only thing that works is going off to another planet for a while, even one full of elegant frogs. And PLANETA GAYFOLK has always been a good place to take refuge.
I'd dedicate it to anyone who's spent weeks keeping it together at work, at home or in the family WhatsApp group without being able to say how tired they are.
The moment: at the end of the day, lying down, phone face down and no plan other than letting the noise die down a little.
