Roar Roar: when silence turns into a roar

Roaring twice. Not once, twice. The title already warns that Roar Roar isn't a song to listen to at low volume or in the background while you do something else. It's a declaration of strength, and it's written in English, as if it wanted the roar to cross borders.

The text of this piece talks about transformation. About something born from silence that ends in a scream, about a pulse that refuses to die out. For me that's the central idea: there's no roar without an earlier time of keeping quiet. First you swallow things, and one day they no longer fit inside you.

For those who were silenced

What matters most to me about this song is who it's dedicated to. To those who have been silenced, judged or erased, and still chose to shine. In the PLANETA GAYFOLK universe that makes a lot of sense. Many of the project's lyrics talk about relationships that made you small, about people who doubted you, about feeling like the odd one in the room. Roar Roar is the answer to all that, condensed into an animal sound.

I like that it puts the word survival next to the word beauty. Breaking away from what held you down has something ugly about it, painful, noisy. But it also has something beautiful, and the song acknowledges it unashamedly.

The ending is a direct invitation: «Turn up the volume». Feel the storm. Let your roar be heard across the universe. It's almost a manifesto, and as such it works better if you make it your own.

When to put it on? The day you decide to say something you've been keeping quiet for a long time. Before a difficult conversation. Walking out of your building after closing a chapter. Or simply on a Monday when you need to remember you have something to say and you're allowed to say it.

I'd dedicate it to anyone who hasn't roared yet. Let them know they have permission, and that nobody is going to ask them to tone it down.
