Que Te Mola el Cruising: you've been caught, little one

Well, well. That's how it all begins, in the tone of a neighbour who has just found out something incredibly juicy and has no intention of keeping it to herself.

Que Te Mola el Cruising (So You're Into Cruising) is a song of pure gossip. The victim is a cute guy, very cute, very clean, the typical one who looks like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. And it turns out he's been seen kissing where he shouldn't. That he likes cruising. That he's a bit of a voyeur. And that he has no problem moving into action, since for that you only need to pull your trunks down.

I love the contrast between the good-boy face and what's said about him. It's a very recognisable situation in any group of friends: there's always one who plays it discreet and then turns out to be the biggest surprise.

Poolside Spanglish

The lyrics mix Spanish with a homespun English that gives it a very summery, very jokey feel: estoy fliping, te han visto kissing ("I'm flipping", "they saw you kissing"). It's towel-and-beach-bar Spanglish, and that's precisely why it works so well. «No te hagas el missing» ("Don't go missing on us") is the perfect phrase for when someone disappears from the WhatsApp group after a wild night.

The second part turns up the heat: he likes perreo, flirting, carrying on, he loves being fancied, and he turns round very quickly so the back end can get to work. No beating around the bush and plenty of mischief. Sex isn't judged here; it's celebrated with a cheeky smile.

For me it's a song about the hypocrisy of the discreet type, but told without resentment. Nobody is really scandalised. If anything there's admiration and a little envy.
