Pura Magia, a neon night in Portuguese

A change of language. This time the lyrics are written in Portuguese, and it suits them wonderfully, because few languages sound so good when it comes to inviting someone onto the dance floor.

The story is minimal, and that's where its charm lies. It's night, the lights are shining in the city and the only thing that matters is having fun. The loud sound vibrates in the air, hearts beat in time, nobody stops dancing. No exes, no drama, no revenge. It's probably one of the happiest songs on PLANETA GAYFOLK, and after so many lyrics settling scores, it's welcome.

Vem cá

The chorus is a direct invitation: «Vem cá dançar comigo» ("Come here and dance with me"). And then the promise of feeling that energy and being one, on a night of pure magic («pura magia»). I really like the idea of melting into someone on the dance floor, an experience anyone who has gone out partying knows. That feeling that the music has synchronised you and for a while nothing else exists.

The second part has very beautiful images. Only the moon guides the couple «neste mar de neon» ("in this sea of neon"), and the other's smile shines like a summer. Then a shooting star crosses and the wishes stay on the tip of the tongue. Every step is life, and the party doesn't end.

They're luminous lyrics, almost postcard-like, that you can picture very clearly: a coastal city, neon signs reflected in the water, people dancing with the moon above. For me it has something of those summer nights when everything seems possible and you don't care what time the sun comes up.

I love that there are songs that cross over into Portuguese too. Anyone who speaks it will understand every word, and everyone else will get it anyway, because you don't need a translation to dance.

Put it on at the start of the night, while you get ready, or at the end, when only the usual crowd is left and the dance floor is yours.
