Holy Stillness, a lullaby for when everything finally calms down

After so much noise, so many rows and so much onion, a bit of silence is needed too. Holy Stillness is probably the calmest thing on the whole PLANETA GAYFOLK. A lullaby in English, almost whispered, for that moment when the world stops fighting.

The song describes a gentle night in which the world exhales and the darkness turns kind. A fragile light begins to breathe and hope arrives without a sound. There are no big gestures, no choruses to shout. Everything is slow, small, careful. The stars bend down, the air is warm, hands tremble and hearts beat slowly.

What moves me most is the chorus. «Rest now, little one». Rest without fear. Everything that was broken gently disappears. It's a phrase you could say to a child before sleep, but I also feel it as something you can say to yourself. To the child we were, or to the exhausted adult we are now.

No rush

I really like how it ends, with that idea that nothing hurries and everything is in its place. No more crying, no more struggle, only love remains that night. It's a feeling that doesn't last long in real life, but it exists. Those minutes when, suddenly, everything seems to fit and nothing is left pending.

It's a song with the air of a Christmas carol, although it doesn't talk about any particular holiday. It has that stillness of winter nights when the house is silent and all you can hear is the heating. It could play perfectly on a quiet Christmas Eve, with the lights on and few people around.

I'd dedicate it to anyone going through a difficult time who needs permission to rest. To whoever is caring for someone ill, to whoever has just been through a bereavement, to whoever hasn't slept well for months. Also to the fathers and mothers looking for something different to rock their children to sleep.

Listen to it with the light off, lying down, without looking at your phone. Let it do its work. Sometimes all we need is for someone to tell us that it's over, that we can stop.
