Beats Drop Time Stops: a gothic night at the castle
A full moon, a castle full of spires and lanterns with fuchsia light. In front, three figures dressed in black lace and velvet: two serious-looking guys and, in the centre, a platinum blonde with dark lips. They look like the court of some count who only comes out at night and hasn't missed a party in centuries.
The title works almost like an instruction: the beat drops and time stops. That instant on the dance floor when the bass comes in, everyone raises their arms and for a few seconds nobody remembers the time, work or their phone. The cover moves it to a gothic club, which is where stopping the clock makes the most sense. Vampires, after all, have all the time in the world.
For me it's an early-hours song, the kind I'd put on when the party has already passed the point of no return.
Turn up the volume and let everything stop.
