Gatekeeping

You sayit doesn’t count. You sayit’s not the way.

You sayanyone could, but you never did.

You saythat’s not art,and stop listening.

You draw a linearound yourselfand call it culture.

Gatekeeping, shutting every door.Gatekeeping, always wanting more.Gatekeeping, saying not like you.Gatekeeping, gatekeeping, gatekeeping.

You speakin borrowed rules. You hidebehind good taste.

You measure painwith a ruler, not with truth.

You don’t askwhere it comes from. You askwho allowed it.

Gatekeeping, shutting every door.Gatekeeping, always wanting more.Gatekeeping, saying not like you.Gatekeeping, gatekeeping, gatekeeping.

Not care. Not craft.Just fearwearing clean hands.

Gatekeeping, shutting every door.Gatekeeping, still asking for more.Gatekeeping, deciding who’s in.Gatekeeping, gatekeeping, gatekeeping.

I didn’t knock.I didn’t wait.I stayed.
