No Me Gusta el Fútbol: a pink mohawk, shirt number 80 and a Barbie
Some titles are a confession made out loud, and this is one of them. No Me Gusta el Fútbol (I Don't Like Football) sounds like what many of us have had to keep quiet about at the office on Monday morning or at the family Sunday lunch.
The cover takes it to the extreme with lots of humour. A guy who looks like a tough player, beard, tattoos, black stripes under his eyes and stadium floodlights behind him. So far, everything in order. But the mohawk is bubblegum pink, the number 80 shirt is pink, and what he's holding isn't a ball: it's a blonde Barbie in a sparkly dress.
That clash really makes me laugh. The setting is the temple of textbook masculinity, and the hero occupies it his own way, without apologising and with a firm grip on the doll.
It's a single for everyone who ever pretended to know who'd won the league just to fit in. And for those who would a thousand times rather have a different kind of toy.
