Ni con un palo: when silence in bed is a punishment

Ni con un palo (Not even with a stick). It's an expression we use every day, almost always as a joke, to say something doesn't interest us at all. In this song I pick it up and turn it around, because for me it isn't a phrase: it's a punishment mechanism.

The lyrics talk about a form of silent violence that many people have lived through without giving it a name. In relationships with a narcissistic person, sex can stop being desire and become a weapon. There's no more pleasure, no affection, no meeting. There's power. They punish you without touching you, without looking at you, without coming close. And meanwhile, you try to understand what has happened.

What matters most to me about the song is how it describes that process from the inside. You start thinking you did something wrong, that you're no longer attractive, that something has changed in you. And the lyrics make it clear: you didn't change, the level of their game did. It isn't rejection, it's calculation. It's knowing the other person is suffering and staying still.

Invisible cracks

This kind of violence doesn't leave bruises, but it leaves cracks in self-esteem, in identity, in dignity. And the hardest part is that many people don't talk about it because, apparently, nothing happened. The song answers that with three words that, for me, sum it all up: «Pero pasó todo» (But everything happened).

Within the GAYFOLK universe, where humour almost always rules, this song works as an emotional autopsy. It's a mirror of the pain that makes no noise, of elegant humiliation, of the wound nobody validates. The music video, under neon light, shows what is usually not shown: the coldness, the guilt, the rejected body.

I wrote it because «el silencio también es abuso» (silence is abuse too), and I believe it needs to be said out loud. That control doesn't always shout. That there are punishments carried out without moving.

It isn't a song to put on in the background. It's for listening to carefully, perhaps alone, and for sharing with whoever needs it. If someone punishes you with silence, don't call it love.
