Cover of the single ME GUSTA EL VERANO

Me gusta el verano: a beach selfie with the sun in your face

Sun in your face, leaning palm trees and turquoise sea in the background. Me gusta el verano (I Like Summer) says what it thinks right from the title, and the cover confirms it.

The image is a selfie in every sense. I appear shirtless, with the straps of a backpack over my shoulders, a winged-heart tattoo on my chest and skin shining with sun and salt. Behind me, an almost empty beach, green mountains in the distance and a blue sky with the sun bursting in one corner. The title, brush-painted in pink, turquoise and yellow, looks like it came off a beach-fiesta poster.

I find it funny how direct everything is. There's no mystery, no double reading in the cover: it's someone on the beach, having a great time and wanting you to know. Sometimes a song needs no more justification than that.

Summer has something of a promise about it, of long days and improvised plans. Whether the song is about exactly that or something cheekier, you'll have to listen to find out.

Put it on on the way to the beach, with the windows down, or in the middle of winter, when what you like most about summer is remembering it.
