Kaaa Miga: straight fringe, XXL hoops and a comic-book exclamation
Kaaaa-miga! If you've ever heard someone greet a friend like that, stretching the first syllable until it sounds like a siren, you already sense the tone before pressing play. It's the most castizo, most queeny way of saying amiga (girlfriend), with all the emphasis on the opening.
The cover matches. A fuchsia background with comic-book halftone dots, yellow stars and an explosion bubble where the title bursts out in pink and yellow. In the centre, a blonde face with a straight fringe, a heavily marked black eyeliner, red lips that don't go unnoticed, a beauty spot and enormous hoop earrings. The look is one of surprise, of someone who has just heard a bit of gossip they weren't expecting.
It's newsstand pop art, exaggerated on purpose, and I love how it goes hand in hand with the title: everything shouts, everything shines, everything stretches out.
What happens inside I'll leave for when you listen. Play it for your lifelong kaaamiga, who will surely get the greeting straight away.
