El luto del puto, dressed as a bullfighter in pink
A suit of lights isn't usually bubblegum pink. On the cover of El luto del puto it is: a pink bullfighter's jacket embroidered in gold, with all its frogging and shoulder pieces, worn over a black T-shirt. A high quiff, a cross-shaped earring and a gaze lost to one side, like someone thinking about something that can no longer be fixed.
The contrast is what strikes me most. All the glitter of the bullfighter's suit, which is pure fiesta and spectacle, against a serious, almost melancholy expression. It's as if the bullfighter had left the ring and sat down in a corner to remember.
The title plays shamelessly with rhyme: el luto y el puto, mourning and the whore, two words that sound almost the same and that together make you smile and think at once. Who is in mourning? For whom? Can you be grieving and dressed in pink at the same time? I think so, and that's very PLANETA GAYFOLK.
I invite you to listen to it and discover what lies behind such an unconventional mourning. The answers are in the song.
