Boys from the Village: denim, braces and sunset
Sunset in the countryside, the sun low on the horizon and a wooden barn with its windmill behind. The cover of Boys from the Village has all the scenery of the rural western, the one we've seen in a thousand films and the odd calendar.
In the foreground, a guy with aviator glasses, a moustache, a denim shirt open to the navel, braces, a belt with a big buckle and a winged heart tattooed on his chest. Hands in pockets, a fixed gaze, the pose of someone who knows he's being looked at.
It's impossible not to think of a certain seventies group with their costumes of macho icons. The title, in English and in rodeo-poster lettering, plays with that wink: the boys from the village, who maybe aren't so village after all. If you want to know what goes on in that village, press play and let it run while the evening falls.
