Cover of the single Amsterdam

Amsterdam, between neon canals and platinum hair

The canals glow fuchsia, the windmill stands out in the background and the gaze drops to the ground. Amsterdam has the cover of a long night and even longer thoughts.

In the image I appear with bleached hair, cut short at the sides, a huge black fur coat and a bare chest. Behind me, the city is reflected in the water, with lit street lamps, narrow façades and that windmill that tells you where you are without needing to read the title. Everything bathed in an intense pink, almost like a neon sign.

I really like the contrast between the glamour of the coat and the expression on the face. There's something of the after-party about it, of the walk back to the hotel when there's nobody left on the street. A city famous for its freedom and, in the foreground, someone who seems to be turning something over in their head.

The name of the city is the only thing the title says, so the rest is up to you to imagine. I'd listen to it walking at night, through any city, even one without canals.
