No Label, No Manager, No Gatekeeper: Madrid's Mike Sain't Louis Builds an Indie Alternative Catalogue of 273 Songs Entirely Outside the Music Industry

The self-described first AI singer-songwriter runs every step himself, from the lyric to the label, and gives the lot away free — including a Spanglish dance-floor love song and a comic break-up track about an ex who might have been a machine

MADRID, 25 October 2026 — There is no record company behind Mike Sain't Louis. No manager, no A&R meeting, no marketing department deciding which song goes first. The Madrid-based indie alternative artist, who presents himself as "the first AI singer-songwriter", has spent roughly two years building PLANETA GAYFOLK — 273 singles and more than 280 music videos — entirely outside the traditional industry, and today invites Australian listeners to hear the result for free.

One person, every job

Mike is the lyricist, composer, music producer, art director and CEO of his own independent label, which carries his name: MIKE SAIN'T LOUIS. He writes all of his lyrics. The music and the vocal performance are generated with artificial intelligence, using Suno as a production and arrangement tool, and he directs each track until a version matches what the words need. He also shapes the visual world of the project, from cover art to the videos that accompany almost every release.

"I didn't go around the industry to make a point," he says. "I went around it because nobody was holding the door open. So I built a house without doors and left the windows open for anyone who wants to look in."

Working this way means nobody tells him a chorus is too rude, a title too long or a subject too uncomfortable. His songs are queer, cheeky and uncensored, they lean into humour and camp, and they travel freely between electropop, copla, alternative pop and ballads, in Spanish, English, French and Portuguese.

"Mi salvador": a love song for the dance floor

The first of the two tracks highlighted today shows how far that freedom stretches. "Mi salvador" is a Spanglish dance-floor love song that switches languages line by line. It starts as night falls, with two people vibrating on the same frequency, and moves through a chorus that asks for light and colour to set the love alight.

The setting is Benidorm, on the Spanish Mediterranean coast, where the party never ends and the dancer becomes the narrator's saviour, the rhythm that kills the pain and cures the heart. The final verse crowns the dancer queen of the floor. It is pure escapism, and it is made with the same care as the darker material in the catalogue.

"Mi último ex era una IA disfrazada": the joke that turns on itself

The second track flips the subject of AI into a punchline. "Mi último ex era una IA disfrazada" — "My last ex was an AI in disguise" — opens with a deadpan proposal: maybe it would be better to create a boyfriend with artificial intelligence. He would always tell you the truth, answer sincerely and never deceive you. The only things he could never give you are kisses and hugs.

Then the realisation lands, in a chorus stretched out for comic effect: "¿Entonces mi último ex era una IA disfrazada?" So was the last ex an AI in disguise all along — one whose betrayal chip happened to be faulty, or had its part swapped at some point?

"An AI singer-songwriter writing a song about an AI boyfriend — of course I was going to do it," Mike says. "But the joke isn't on the technology. The joke is on the man who managed to be less honest than a machine."

Why it matters to Australian listeners

Australia knows independent music. Plenty of local artists have built audiences by self-releasing, booking their own gigs and making their own videos, long before any label came calling. Mike's story belongs to that same do-it-yourself instinct, pushed to an extreme: he handles every stage himself and then removes the price tag altogether. For listeners who care about how music gets made, and who gets to make it, his catalogue is an unusual case study in what one person can now do outside the system.

The photograph that accompanies this release makes the same point without words: one figure in a long black coat on an empty winter beach, nobody else in the frame. It is not a lonely image so much as an honest one. That is what an independent operation of one looks like.

There is also a simpler reason. "Mi salvador" is a summer track, and right now, while Madrid heads into winter, Australia is heading towards summer. It may make more sense on Bondi or the Gold Coast in December than anywhere in Europe.

How many people discovered him

Many listeners first came across Mike in 2024, when his song "Tan Cateto" went viral on TikTok. Since then the catalogue has grown around a central project, the GAYFOLK trilogy: "Descubierto un nuevo planeta llamado GAYFOLK", "Ojalá se pudiera viajar a GAYFOLK" and "El día de la liberación", three albums conceived as one journey to a planet where everyone can live exactly as they are.
