More Videos Than Songs: Madrid's Mike Sain't Louis Has Released Over 280 Music Videos for a 273-Single Catalog – and Gives It All Away
The indie alternative artist who calls himself \"the first AI singer-songwriter\" treats the visual side of his PLANETA GAYFOLK project as part of the writing, from a minimalist English-language anthem to a wry song about being ignored on WhatsApp

MADRID, Oct. 25, 2026 – Here is a number that does not usually add up in the music business: Mike Sain't Louis has released more music videos than songs. His catalog holds 273 singles. His video count is over 280. For most independent artists, a music video is a once-a-year luxury reserved for the lead single. For this Madrid-based indie alternative artist, who presents himself as "the first AI singer-songwriter," the image is simply another place where a song gets written.
Mike Sain't Louis writes all of his own lyrics. He is also the composer, music producer, artistic director and CEO of his independent label, MIKE SAIN'T LOUIS, with no record company and no intermediaries. The music and vocal performances are generated with artificial intelligence, a tool he directs version by version; he does not sing. What belongs to him is the word, the idea and the artistic direction – and that direction extends to every clip. The whole body of work, called PLANETA GAYFOLK, took roughly two years to build.
Why the math doesn't match
The two figures were never meant to line up one-to-one. What the numbers do show is priorities: in this catalog the visual side receives the same attention as the lyric, rather than being an afterthought for a lucky few singles. For Mike Sain't Louis, a clip is not decoration. It is a way of finding out what a lyric really says.
"A video isn't a poster for the song. It's another verse," he says. "If the picture says something the words don't mean, I've failed, however pretty it looks."
The principle behind the visuals is the same one he applies to the music. He has written that the production must serve the lyric, the way a good outfit serves the person wearing it: if the outfit is more visible than the person, something has gone wrong.
"Gatekeeping": a song built on white space
The first example is one of the songs Mike Sain't Louis wrote entirely in English. "Gatekeeping" is constructed from short, almost telegraphic lines aimed at the people who decide who gets in and who does not: you say it doesn't count, you say anyone could do it but you never did, you draw a line around yourself and call it culture.
In his writing about working in two languages, he has explained that English pushes him to strip a lyric down to the skeleton, while Spanish makes him fill every gap. "Gatekeeping" is the purest example of that skeleton. One of its lines carries the whole argument:
You measure pain / with a ruler, / not with truth.
A song this spare does not need a busy picture. It needs room. And the ending is a quiet statement of intent that could stand as the motto of his entire project:
I didn't knock. / I didn't wait. / I stayed.
"Everyone has met a gatekeeper," he says. "In music, in the office, in the family. The song is not about AI. It's about anyone who was told they needed permission."
"Primer aniversario": celebrating to an empty room
The second song turns the camera on the artist himself. "Primer aniversario" ("First Anniversary") is, in Mike Sain't Louis's own description, a song written from the irony and loneliness of the independent artist. It laughs at indifference: twenty WhatsApp statuses seen without a single "like," the echo chamber of social media, and the people who say "that doesn't make money, find something else."
His note on the song frames it as a tribute to emotional resilience – to everyone who keeps betting on their work without applause, likes or validation – and as an open letter to anyone who has felt their art does not matter. He signs it off with a small domestic detail: his chihuahuas, his story and his truth.
"The anniversary nobody celebrated is still an anniversary," he says. "I'd rather toast with my dogs than wait for permission to be happy about my own work."
The record shop
The photograph accompanying this release shows Mike Sain't Louis in a record shop, among shelves of vinyl. It is a deliberate contrast. There is nothing of his to buy there: his entire catalog is free. Every song can be downloaded at no cost from his website, each with its lyrics, alongside the three albums of the GAYFOLK trilogy. The same music is also on Spotify, Deezer and the main streaming platforms for listeners who prefer them.
Why American audiences may want to watch
American television turned the music video into a mass-culture form, and American audiences know better than most how an image can make or break a song. Mike Sain't Louis offers something different: a one-person visual catalog from Spain, made outside the label system, openly built with AI as a tool, and driven by lyrics that range from camp comedy to frank writing about mental health. He writes mostly in Spanish, but also in English, French and Portuguese, which makes songs like "Gatekeeping" an easy entry point. Many listeners discovered him in 2024, when "Tan Cateto" went viral on TikTok.
